Gigs don't always go smoothly on fiverr, even when you are purchasing from a top rated seller. I placed an order from uniquefivex last week and the results I got back unfortunately didn't look nearly as nice as her sample videos.
In this fiverr gig, uniquefivex uses stop motion animation of her coloring in your logo, complete with intro screens of text. I asked her to use my graphic design companies logo and slogan in order to create a two panel stop motion video. And she delivered relatively quickly.
I liked the music she chose, I liked her intro, and i liked the gig my only complaint really was that my video looked rushed and the coloring wasn't nearly as dense as any of her examples.
Here is the first video:
To start off I kinda feel weird asking for revisions on gigs that only cost $5, but I did mention it and I told her that I would buy her tip gig if she would re color and shoot the logo for me.
This was her response "Hi, unfortunately I have changed my style since those older videos to save myself a lot of time and ink :(" she then offered to re-do the video if I re purchased the gig. I am totally happy to re-buy a gig as a revision, but this reply pissed me off because I felt like she was just admitting "My gig is a bait and switch, you can pay me again and I may do what I said I would do in the first place".
It took me a bit of thinking, and since I still liked her original style I decided to go ahead with a second purchase. Since I was going for the second purchase I also switched which of my logo variations I sent, hoping maybe a smaller logo would be easier for her to fill in.
The second video:
I am happy with the results of the second video, it doesn't have the color gaps and amateur look of the first, I feel it is put together much better, and I was left feeling satisfied. The whole interaction made me want to leave 1 negative feedback and 1 positive, but I think I will listen to my Mom's advice "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" and leave no feedback for uniquefivex.
Hi there, uniquefivex here!
ReplyDeleteI respect your thought process and opinion on purchasing from me, and am happy that you did like the end product. I have been doing this for a few months now, my style changing and adapting over time from my earlier videos. For example, the pen spinning is a new trick I do, as well as some other hand movements.
I definitely did not want my response to you to seem like a "bait and switch", and not to toot my own horn but I have redone videos for people free of charge if there was something minor to fix, or of course if there was an error on my part.
I have just recently been going for a sketchier style. Reason being is that I do get all sorts of logos, some are simple, others more complicated/colorful or really eat up a lot of ink and take me longer to color. So I adapt to every one of them, trying to be fair to the buyer and to myself. Marker ink, paper, logo prepping in Photoshop, time spent coloring and video editing are all going into this for $5. Since $1 goes to Fiverr for every sale, I actually make $4 per video.
Your second video actually took me twice as long to do as it would for an average customer, to be honest. In Fiverr world, all logos submitted to me are viewed as "all equally worth $5 to color" no matter how long it takes me. So as I said, I adapt.
Anyway, I just wanted to respond with a seller point of view :) -- I hope I didn’t deter you from buying from other top sellers or from Fiverr itself; there is some great stuff on there!
